Porto star Samu Omorodion on Tuesday provided a fresh reminder to both Chelsea and Atlético Madrid of just what they missed out on…
This came by way of his endeavours on the international front.
Omorodion was afforded a starting berth this evening, as Spain’s U21s played host to Malta in a European Championship qualifier.
And, en route to an eventual 6-0 rout for La Rojita, the frontman proved himself the undisputed star of the show.
Incredibly, inside the opening 45 minutes, Omorodion racked up all four of Spain’s goals, tearing Malta’s backline to shreds courtesy of physical and technical excellence in equal measure.
This comes fresh off what has been an equally excellent start to life with new club Porto over the early weeks of the new season, the 20-year-old having found the net seven times in seven appearances to date.
And, all the while, those in a position of power at two of Europe’s leading clubs have been left to watch on, wondering what might have been…
One come in the form of Chelsea, who pulled the plug on a deal for Omorodion at the last minute during the summer transfer window.
And the other are Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, who ultimately allowed their young frontman to depart for a heavily-reduced sum, in the buildup to the deadline.
