Diario AS report that in a recent interview, Ronaldinho confirmed to Catalan outlet, RAC1, that his son, João Mendes de Assis Moreira, will sign for Barcelona.
In the interview, the ex-Blaugrana star admitted he would be spending more time in the city of Barcelona, as his son would be staying there now too.
Ronaldinho presented it as fact that the promising 17-year-old would play for Barça after cutting ties with his old club Cruzeiro and passing trials with the La Liga club.
João Mendes de Assis Moreira is left-footed and primarily plays as a striker. He has the benefit of possessing Spanish nationality, so he wouldn’t take up a valuable non-EU slot for Barcelona.
The teenager’s career so far is still fairly unknown, having only played for Cruzeiro’s youth teams. He is also yet to feature in a Brazil squad of any age level.
The young star has Roberto de Assis as his representative, his uncle who also had the same professional relationship with his father. Roberto de Assis is currently in the city of Barcelona, and it appears he may remain there for an extended period of time.
