Ronald Araújo’s future & the Robert De Zerbi option – Takeaways from Deco’s agent meeting

An insight into the key takeaways from Barcelona sporting director Deco’s latest high-profile sit-down has been provided late this evening.

Footage surfaced online earlier today of Edmundo Kabchi and Edoardo Crnjar – the agents of Barca defender Ronald Araújo – touching down in Catalunya’s capital.

Word, in turn, was soon forthcoming that as much came with a view to a meeting with the aforementioned Deco, at which Araújo’s future at the club would be discussed.

With Kabchi and Crnjar also representing Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi, though, it was viewed as likely that the Italian’s plans for next season would be on the agenda, too.

This of course comes with the Barca brass keeping a close eye on De Zerbi as a potential replacement for the outbound Xavi.

So, with the meeting having now come and gone, what has been learned?

As alluded to above, an insight into precisely that was forthcoming a short time ago.

And the news will come as a boost for all those hopeful of Ronald Araújo rejecting the ongoing advances of Bayern Munich, to stay put for the seasons to come.

As per a report from Jijantes, the Uruguayan’s entourage made clear to Deco on Wednesday that their client remains ‘happy’ at the club, and therefore has every intention of honouring his contract, through the summer of 2027.

Not only that, but a potential renewal, featuring improved terms for Araújo, was also discussed.

Turning attentions towards the managerial situation at Barcelona, Jijantes’ Gerard Romero has confirmed that Roberto De Zerbi’s potential instillation on the Camp Nou bench was indeed also brought to the fore by Deco.

However, it was far from the main focus of the talks, amid the widespread understanding that the Italian tactician remains content with his situation in England.
