Ronald Araújo joins Luis Suárez in Barcelona history books during Celta Vigo clash

Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has this evening secured for himself a place in the club’s history books.

This comes owing to his latest appearance in the colours of the Blaugrana.

Xavi’s troops, of course, are currently locked in action, in a La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo at Balaídos.

As things stand late in the first-half, the two sides remain deadlocked at 0-0, equally desperate for what could prove a crucial opening goal.

Barcelona boss Xavi, for his part, opted for a strong starting XI for the clash, making use of the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski and Ronald Araújo from the off.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, the latter of this quartet etched his name into the record books in Catalunya’s capital.

Araújo, on Saturday, took to the pitch for the 100th time in La Liga, whilst donning the colours of Barcelona.

The 24-year-old is one of 125 players to ever have reached this mark with the Blaugrana, as well as being one of just three Uruguayans.

The stopper’s compatriots on the list? Club icon Luis Suárez, and ex-full-back Julio César Benítez.
