Ronald Araújo: “I would sign Messi for Barcelona.”

Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo is currently sidelined with an injury that he picked up while away on international duty with Uruguay.

In an interview that appeared on Marca, he discussed what it has been like working with Xavi for the past year:

“We have been working with him for some time. At the beginning it was a little difficult, because he came with new ideas, with things that were not being done in recent years here. He is trying to bring back Barça’s philosophy and I think now the fruits of our labour are being reaped.”

Araújo praised Karim Benzema, who Barcelona will face on Sunday:

“He is a player with very intelligent movements and tremendous quality. He knows when to stop, when to support his teammates, and you always have to be very careful when you face him.”

He also revealed his thoughts regarding the possible return of Messi to Els Culers:

“If I were the sporting director, I would sign Messi for FC Barcelona.”
