A fresh insight into the future of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has been forthcoming late this evening.
The info comes courtesy of the reliable Fernando Polo of Mundo Deportivo, whose latest report comes in direct contrast to much of the media speculation stemming from Catalunya’s capital over the course of recent days.
Stopper Araújo, of course, has been hotly tipped for a summer departure from Barcelona of late.
Amid a trio of factors – Bayern Munich’s ongoing interest, Barca’s need for a big-money sale, and the Uruguayan’s dip in form – it has been widely reported that he could be the player sacrificed with a view to next season.
Those of a Blaugrana persuasion desperate to see Araújo stay put beyond the summer, in turn, will no doubt breathe a welcome sigh of relief on Wednesday night.
As per the aforementioned MD, Deco and his team of directors have no intention of parting with the club’s defensive stalwart at any point in the near future.
In fact, negotiations have already been kicked into gear with Araújo’s representatives, over the terms of a new contract at the Camp Nou.
Ahead of another predicted assault on the part of Bayern Munich in the summer, and with his current deal due to expire in 2026, Barcelona are ready to tie down a player considered to be the ‘backbone’ of their squad for the long-term.
