Rodrygo sets La Liga-best benchmark in Real Madrid’s Valencia drubbing

Real Madrid star Rodrygo secured for himself an altogether impressive benchmark during the club’s meeting with Valencia on Saturday night.

After dropping points in disappointing fashion at home to Rayo Vallecano last weekend, Carlo Ancelotti’s side welcomed Valencia to Spain’s capital, eyeing a return to winning ways.

And, when all was said and done, rack up all three points is precisely what Real managed, in some style.

This came as Dani Carvajal’s opener was added to by braces on the part of both Vinícius Jr. and Rodrygo, en route to an eventual 5-1 result.

As alluded to above, though, in the midst of a host of stellar individual performances across the hosts’ ranks on Saturday, one stood out above all others.

This came as Rodrygo secured for himself a special early-season La Liga benchmark.

Owing to not only his two goals, but a pair of assists, too, the Brazilian established himself as the first player to play a direct hand in four goals in a single fixture in Spain’s top flight in 2023/24.
