Rodri’s arrival set to force highly-regarded youngster out at Barcelona

The impending arrival of Manchester City star Rodri at La Liga champions Barcelona looks set to culminate in an up-and-coming member of the Blaugrana’s midfield ranks taking his talents elsewhere this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who highlight Tommy Marqués as the player in question.

The name of youngster Tommy will of course be a familiar one to close followers of Barcelona, after his breakthrough into the first-team setup in Catalunya’s capital last season.

The 19-year-old, already labelled the ‘next Frenkie de Jong’ by many, was afforded a pair of La Liga appearances en route to the Blaugrana’s latest Spanish top-flight title.

Tommy is held in extremely high regard behind the scenes at the Ciutat Esportiva, with Hansi Flick understood to be a huge admirer of the Spaniard’s talents.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to learn of Tommy preparing for life away from the Camp Nou…

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, with Barcelona widely expected to reinforce their deep-lying midfield ranks courtesy of Rodri’s signing over the weeks ahead:

‘The Catalan midfielder has decided to leave Barça to gain experience, and everything points to him being transferred with a buy-back option.’

Tommy is not at all short on suitors, with all of Borussia Dortmund, SC Braga and even the aforementioned Man City understood to be considering offers for the teen’s services.
