Rodrigo De Paul’s situation at Atlético Madrid

Rodrigo De Paul has been a player who has been used a lot by Diego Simeone at Atlético Madrid. Despite not being loved by the fans, despite not having been one of the team’s best performers, Simeone has trusted him.

Nobody doubts the World Cup winner’s ability, but they do doubt his commitment. As reported by Madrid-based outlet Diario AS, De Paul has played 19 games in all competitions this season, 12 in La Liga, five in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey. He has scored two goals, against Celta Vigo in La Liga and against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. He has also registered two assists, in the Copa del Rey and the league.

The former Udinese man is 28 and has a contract at the Metropolitano until 2026. Atlético have not wanted to listen to any offer for him, although in the summer the situation may be different. But until then, a lot can happen. He will have to convince everyone that he is a player worthy of staying at the Metropolitano or the opposite, that the best thing is that he leaves.

Until then, his compatriot Simeone has work to do. Nahuel Molina and Ángel Correa, the other two world champions in the Atlético squad, have integrated quickly and are performing well. Now it’s De Paul’s turn to start impressing.
