Rodrigo de Paul: “It is very difficult to be able to disconnect from everything that has to do with the World Cup.”

Rodrigo de Paul gave an interview to TYC Sport, which also appeared on Marca:

Despite not starting regularly at Atlético Madrid, he is satisfied with the rotation system that Diego Simeone has implemented at the club:

“I like to be competing all the time, as I do every day at Atlético, but afterwards and in relation to the minutes you play, that’s up to the coach to decide. But with the fact that there are now five changes, the amount of minutes a team gets is almost similar. We all played in Europe, each one of us is in a big-name team, and many of us were protagonists.”

The Argentine midfielder has the World Cup at the back of his mind every day:

“It is very difficult to be able to disconnect from everything that has to do with the World Cup, because when you are doing it, someone always appears to remind you of it. That’s why my head is with the World Cup every day.”

“I know that when the time comes I probably won’t enjoy it, because there will be a lot of pressure, competition, nervousness and anxiety. Everything will be crazy. And that’s why you live so focused,” he added.
