An insight into the financial windfall set to come the way of Barcelona through Jean-Clair Todibo’s departure from OGC Nice has been provided on Friday.
Todibo has long established himself as one of the standout defenders in Ligue 1. In turn, a whole host of heavyweight clubs from across the continent are understood to be expressing a keen interest in his signature, with the widespread assumption that the 23-year-old will soon be on the move.
And, as alluded to above, in the case of such a transfer coming to fruition, Nice won’t be the only ones to benefit financially. This comes with Barcelona, with whom Todibo spent two years from 2019 to 2021, in possession of a sell-on clause.
As per a report from Sport, the Blaugrana are entitled to 20% of the fee secured by Nice for the sale of the talented defender. With Les Aiglons expected to demand a sum in the region of €40m, Barca could therefore be in line for a cash injection of as much as €8m.
Any such transfer, however, is unlikely to come in January, with Nice ready to resist any and all offers until next summer.
