Revealed: How former Real Madrid stars have dented Los Blancos’ La Liga title bid

A fascinating statistic surrounding the percentage of goals netted against Real Madrid by former Blancos players across the season to date has come to the fore online.

The info comes by way of Relevo, who point towards Marcos Llorente as just the latest in a long line of ex-Real talents to have come back to haunt their one-time employers in 2023/24.

Llorente, of course, broke hearts at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday night, in nodding home an injury-time equaliser to secure a share of the spoils for Atlético Madrid against their city rivals.

And, in the process, he became the sixth player to have spent time developing in Los Merengues’ La Fábrica setup to have managed as much this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, for their part, have conceded just 15 goals on their way to table-topping status in La Liga.

But just shy of half (7) of these have been converted by the club’s ex-youngsters, namely Sergio Arribas, Borja Mayoral, Álvaro Morata (two), Hugo Duro, Javi Muñoz and Marcos Llorente.

Still just two points clear of surprise title challengers Girona, all associated with Real will no doubt be keen to buck this trend over the remaining months of the term.
