An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s midfield in the summer has been provided this evening.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards Deco and his team as having drawn up a five-man shortlist.
The chief target, by some way, comes in the form of Girona standout Aleix García.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign at the Estadi Montilivi to date, playing a pivotal role in Girona’s shock bid for the La Liga title.
Not only that, but his contract is understood to possess a release clause in the region of €20 million, making him an affordable option for a cash-strapped Barca.
Also on the Blaugrana’s radar, as reported in the media for some time now, is Bayern Munich standout Joshua Kimmich.
And the transfer team in Catalunya’s capital are keeping a close eye on the trio of Amadou Onana (Everton), Mats Wieffer (Feyenoord), and Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle United), too.
A move for the latter, however, is viewed as unlikely at best, owing to the price-tag involved.
