Reigning Ballon d’Or holder Dembélé names Real Madrid star in his top-3 for this year’s award

Paris Saint-Germain star and reigning Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembélé has this week revealed his three leading candidates to scoop this year’s prize.

This of course comes with the 30-man shortlist to be named world football’s best player for the last 12 months having been announced on Tuesday.

Dembélé is himself amongst the nominees, but not considered as being amongst the frontrunners, despite PSG’s 2nd successive Champions League triumph.

Instead, the likes of Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé are considered the favourites to be named the latest winner of the prestigious ‘Golden Ball’.

Speaking during an exchange with the media early this week, Ousmane Dembélé was therefore asked to name his Ballon d’Or podium for the year of 2026.

And the Frenchman, as cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, did not hesitate to name the aforementioned Kane and Mbappé, alongside PSG teammate and attacking partner in crime Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
