Real Sociedad provide Álvaro Odriozola update after nasty-looking knee injury vs Girona

Real Sociedad have this evening provided an update on the wellbeing of defender Álvaro Odriozola.

This comes after the 28-year-old was forced into a premature departure from the club’s latest outing.

Sociedad, of course, are currently locked in action.

Hopeful of making it five straight outings without defeat across all competitions, Imanol’s troops have made the daunting trip to high-flying Girona, for a La Liga clash.

And, as things stand late in proceedings at the Estadi Montilivi, La Real remain in with a shot of precisely that, whilst holding their hosts to a goalless stalemate.

On an otherwise positive night’s work to date, however, Imanol and co, as alluded to above, have also been dealt a blow.

This comes after full-back Álvaro Odriozola was forced to depart the field of play inside the opening minutes, with what looked a potentially serious knee injury.

After his studs were caught in the turf, the former Real Madrid man’s right knee jarred in nasty fashion, culminating in a swift substitution:

And an update on Odriozola’s situation has since been provided.

As per an official statement across Real Sociedad’s website and social media platforms:

‘Álvaro Odriozola has been replaced due to hyperextension of the right knee. Additional tests will be performed.’
