Real Sociedad pair to sit out Getafe clash

Real Sociedad are set to be without two of the club’s star performers for the upcoming round of La Liga fixtures.

As much comes owing to developments in La Real’s latest outing over the weekend.

Imanol’s troops welcomed Almería, the Spanish top-flight’s bottom club, to Anoeta on Sunday evening.

Brimming with confidence on the back of a trio of successive victories, all associated with the day’s hosts no doubt predicted another comfortable three-point haul.

When all was said and done, however, Sociedad were forced to settle for a hugely underwhelming share of the spoils.

As much came by way of a 2-2 draw, which saw a late spot-kick on the part of Adri Embarba deal what could prove to be a serious blow to the Basque outfit’s European hopes.

And yet, the eventual result did not prove the only source of concern for La Real on Sunday.

In addition, two members of the club’s first-choice XI picked up suspensions.

The pair in question? Igor Zubeldia, and Martín Zubimendi.

The former was given his marching orders late in the action at Anoeta, whilst midfielder Zubimendi was shown his fifth yellow card of the La Liga season, too.

Both, as a result, will be unavailable for selection to boss Imanol this coming weekend, when Real Sociedad make the trip to the Estadio Coliseum to take on Getafe.
