Jesse Lingard’s representatives are exploring a January loan move for the Manchester United midfielder, with Real Sociedad one of the clubs they have held talks with, according to Sky Sports.

The England international was named in Manchester United’s Premier League and Champions League squads for the 2020-21 campaign but has yet to feature in either competition this season, making just two EFL Cup appearances after a summer move failed to materialise.

The 27-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford runs out in June 2021, with United yet to trigger their option of extending it by another year. Sociedad are currently sitting second in LaLiga, behind Atlético Madrid in first place, with seven wins from their opening 12 league games. Former Manchester City midfielder David Silva joined the Basque club over the summer after a decade in the Premier League.
