La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have this weekend been dealt an untimely blow on the personnel front.
As much was confirmed in an official statement on the part of the Basque outfit, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, on Sunday.
The Sociedad star to have picked up an injury problem comes in the form of Igor Zubeldia.
Stopper Zubeldia has for his part played a central role in the backline of boss Imanol across the season to date, featuring from the off in 29 of La Real’s La Liga outings.
It will in turn come as a blow for all associated with the club to hear that the 27-year-old looks set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
As confirmed this evening, Zubeldia has picked up a thigh injury.
As much was suffered during a training session over the weekend, after the defender was forced to sit out Sociedad’s 2-0 victory over Las Palmas through suspension.
La Real have announced that the Spaniard ‘”has begun to be treated through physiotherapy and his return to usual activity will be progressive and will depend on the characteristics of the injury and the clinical evolution.”
The assumption, in turn, is that Zubeldia will be unavailable for his side’s next fixture, against Barcelona on Monday, May 13th.
