Real Sociedad head coach Imanol has on Wednesday provided an in-depth insight into his plans with the club moving forward.
And the news will no doubt come as a source of excitement for those of a Sociedad persuasion eager for their side’s headmaster to stay put for as long as possible.
La Real currently find themselves in the midst of an underwhelming stretch of form, having been condemned to defeat in three of their last four in La Liga.
Such woes leave the Basque outfit sitting in a lowly 9th in the Spanish top-flight table.
Evidently, though, the disappointing campaign being endured by their side to date has not proven enough to shake the confidence of the board at Anoeta when it comes to Imanol’s future.
In fact, speaking to the media, in quotes gathered by Mundo Deportivo, on Wednesday, the Spanish tactician revealed that he has a long-standing contract offer on the table, which he has every intention of signing when the time is right:
“Up top, there are no doubts. I have had the offer to renew since August, whenever I want I can sign. Now if I want I can go up and sign for one, two or however many years. They want me to be here. I am very excited to have a good year this year and to renew. I want to continue but not in any way. Based on the path I have taken I want to finish well. Getting into Europe or not is not related to not renewing. For me, the most important thing is not getting into Europe. If the team grows or improves, don’t doubt that I will renew. I am the first one who wants to be here next year. The three of them know that I want to be here and that I want to be the coach who manages the most games for Real Sociedad in history. There are still a couple of years left. I don’t want to keep clinging to the chair, I want to finish well.”
