Real Madrid’s emergency plan if Rüdiger & Nacho miss out vs Girona

An insight into the plans being put in place by the powers that be at Real Madrid, in the case of the club’s defensive crisis failing to subside by the weekend, has been provided this evening.

The subject of personnel concerns has of course taken its place back front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after word was forthcoming that yet another member of Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive ranks is struggling for fitness.

Owing to a bout of muscular overload, captain Nacho was forced to sit out training on Wednesday.

With David Alaba and Éder Militão long-term absentees, and Antonio Rüdiger continuing to struggle with a knee problem picked up last week, this means that Real could be forced to head into the club’s crunch top-of-the-table showdown with Girona this weekend without a single fit senior centre-half.

Should as much prove to be the case, boss Ancelotti, in turn, is already in the process of drawing up emergency plans.

As confirmed by Marca, amongst others, should both Rüdiger and Nacho miss out on Saturday, Real will turn to a central defensive pairing of Dani Carvajal, and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
