Real Madrid’s appeal plans confirmed as Jude Bellingham learns La Liga punishment

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has on Wednesday been hit with a two-match La Liga suspension.

As much comes owing to the red card picked up by the England international during Real’s weekend meeting with Valencia.

Bellingham was of course at the heart of one of the stories of the Spanish top-flight season to date on Saturday night.

This came when it appeared as though the 20-year-old had notched yet another last-gasp winner, deep into injury time in Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Valencia.

As Bellingham wheeled away in celebration, however, his joy soon turned to despair.

Mere milliseconds before the all-action midfielder nodded home a fine finish, referee Jesús Gil Manzano blew for full-time.

The decision sparked nothing short of pandemonium on the Mestalla pitch, with Bellingham, amid the chaos, having been sent off for his protests.

And, as alluded to above, upon review, the actions of the former Borussia Dortmund man have since given rise to a two-game ban.

As much was confirmed by the reliable Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, who also revealed that the sanction is open to appeal, an option which Real are expected to take swift advantage of over the coming days.

As things stand, Bellingham is set to sit out Los Blancos’ upcoming La Liga fixtures against both Celta Vigo and Osasuna.
