An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid could be afforded a starting berth in the club’s upcoming showdown with city rivals Atlético.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Jacobo Ramón as the player in question.
The latest edition of the Madrid Derby, of course, is set to play out this coming weekend.
In a crunch top-of-the-table La Liga showdown, Real will welcome Diego Simeone’s Atlético to the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday night.
In the buildup to the clash, much of the chatter has centered on the defensive options, or rather lack thereof, at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti.
This comes after Antonio Rüdiger’s weekend injury blow was added to by a fresh problem on the part of the returning David Alaba on Tuesday.
And, as alluded to above, such developments could yet open the door for a surprise new face to take his place at the heart of Real’s backline in the derby.
As per a report from Marca, amid ongoing concern surrounding the form of Aurélien Tchouaméni, youngster Jacobo Ramón looks increasingly likely to partner Raúl Asencio in defence against Atlético:
‘The youth player is expected to play a few minutes against Leganés, in addition to the week’s training session. If he passes the exams with flying colours, he will supposedly be Asencio’s partner in the centre of defence against Atlético Madrid.’
