The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to ramp up their efforts to land a leading summer transfer target early this week.
That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Álvaro Carreras as the player in question.
The name of Benfica standout Carreras has of course proven an altogether prominent one in Spain’s capital over the last couple of weeks.
This comes following widespread confirmation that the 22-year-old has been identified as the first-choice option to reinforce the left-back ranks in Real Madrid’s squad.
The incoming Xabi Alonso is understood to be a keen admirer of Carreras’ talents, eager to work with his compatriot next season.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Real, on Monday, are ready to step up their pursuit.
With Benfica’s season having now officially come to a close, as per Matteo Moretto of Relevo:
‘Starting tomorrow (Monday), Real Madrid will intensify its contacts with Benfica to finalize the signing of Álvaro Carreras. The footballer already has an agreement with Real Madrid.’
