Real Madrid to extend Dani Ceballos’ contract

Dani Ceballos has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid throughout the summer transfer window.

However, Carlo Ancelotti has told the 26-year-old that he is part of his plans at Los Blancos. Even though the Italian coach wants to see Ceballos play for Real Madrid, he has not given the midfielder the number of minutes that he was expecting.

Ceballos’ contract is set to expire with Real Madrid in June 2023 and the club hope to extend it before January. According to Estadio Deportivo, this would prevent the player from hearing offers from other clubs and signing pre-contractual agreements while he is still a member of the European champions’ squad.

Real Betis were linked with Ceballos this past transfer window, but the club were not in the financial position to make an offer. Since then they have shifted their attention to Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, who they could potentially sign on a free transfer next summer.
