Real Madrid to discuss Marco Asensio’s future in the next few days

Real Madrid plan to sit down with Marco Asensio in the next few days in order to discuss the player’s future at the club, report Mundo Deportivo.

The 26-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in June 2023. Despite struggling to get into Los Blancos’ starting XI, the club are interested in offering the Spaniard a new contract. However, Asensio is considering to leave the club in the interest of more playing time.

The Mallorquín is currently on holiday with his partner following Spain’s elimination from the World Cup by Morocco, but he is due to return to training at Valdebebas next week, which will also be an opportunity to clarify his future.

If Asensio chooses to leave Real Madrid, the European champions would be keen to sell him in January so that they receive a transfer fee for his departure.

There are no shortage of suitors for the Spanish international around Europe, with Arsenal being the latest side keen on taking Asensio off Real Madrid’s hands.
