Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has this evening received the backing of teammate Luka Modrić.
This comes fresh off another outing to forget for the Frenchman in the colours of Los Blancos.
Real Madrid marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Anfield for a Champions League showdown with Liverpool.
When all was said and done, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops found themselves condemned to the wrong side of a 2-0 result, owing to goals on the part of Alexis Mac Allister, and Cody Gakpo.
A number of the visitors’ stars struggled over the course of the 90 minutes on Merseyside, not least the aforementioned Kylian Mbappé.
Afforded a start in his favoured berth on the left wing amid the absence of Vinícius Jr, the summer arrival in Madrid hugely struggled in his efforts to influence proceedings in the attacking third.
Mbappé even missed a 2nd-half spot-kick, which would have drawn his side level at a pivotal point during the 2nd-half.
On the back of the full-time whistle at Anfield, the criticism of the 25-year-old has, in turn, since been as ruthless as it has swift.
Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of his under-fire teammate was put to Luka Modrić.
And, in his response, the veteran midfielder moved to defend Mbappé, assuring:
“We see Mbappé doing well, training well, with confidence. I’m sure that Kylian will do what is expected of him.”
