La Liga giants Real Madrid have this weekend been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Rodrygo is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Frontman Rodrygo was for his part, as expected, named in Carlo Ancelotti’s travelling squad to take on Girona on Saturday evening.
Just hours out from the clash, however, word was forthcoming that the Brazilian international had been forced to withdraw from Real’s party bound for the Estadi Montilivi.
As per a statement across Los Blancos’ website and social media platforms:
‘Real Madrid travel to Girona for matchday 16 of LaLiga this evening at Montilivi but they will do so without Rodrygo, Gonzalo and Chema who have pulled out.’
And, as alluded to above, an explanation for as much has since been provided.
As per Fabrizio Romano, citing Real Madrid themselves, Rodrygo ‘has suffered a new muscle injury’, the extent of which is yet to be confirmed.
