Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga was left nothing short of broken in the aftermath of the club’s exit from the Champions League in midweek.
This of course comes after the Frenchman played a central role in Los Blancos’ defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Late in the 90 at the Allianz Arena, Álvaro Arbeloa’s troops found themselves leading by three goals to two, primed to send the quarter-final tie to extra-time.
Camavinga, however, after being introduced as a substitute, went on to pick up a pair of quickfire yellow cards, kickstarting a collapse which saw Real Madrid concede twice in the game’s dying moments.
The former Rennes talent was subsequently singled out for widespread blame for the result back in Spain.
And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the magnitude of his errors does not appear to have been at all lost on Camavinga himself.
As per a report from Marca, following the full-time whistle in Munich:
‘The French midfielder, alone, wept inconsolably. He was the image of a footballer aware that he had made a mistake that had defined the tie. The red card hit him like a final blow.’
