Real Madrid star spotted back in group training

La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week been afforded a welcome boost on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation that Raúl Asencio has returned to group training alongside the rest of the club’s first-team stars.

Defender Asencio is for his part yet to take to the pitch in the 2026/27 campaign. This is due not only to the fact that he is considered a backup option in Spain’s capital, but also an injury setback.

During pre-season preparations at Valdebebas this summer, the 23-year-old suffered a torn ligament in his knee.

Asencio, in turn, has spent the weeks since in recovery, with a view to a return to competitive action at some point this month.

And as alluded to above, if the latest images stemming from Valdebebas on Thursday are anything to go by, then the Spanish stopper’s recovery timeline appears to be firmly on track.

As showcased in the photo below, Asencio was this morning spotted back in the thick of things in group training with José Mourinho’s Real Madrid squad:
