Real Madrid star sits out training ahead of Man City

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was forced to sit out training on Thursday, it has been revealed.

Real’s stars, of course, are currently being put through preparations for the club’s most high-profile outing of the season to date.

This comes as Carlo Ancelotti’s troops prepare to play host to Premier League champions Manchester City, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs next week.

Fresh off a return to winning ways on the back of the international break at the expense of Athletic Club over the weekend, Los Blancos, in turn, reconvened at Valdebebas earlier today.

And yet, as alluded to above, whilst Ancelotti’s star-studded ranks were put through their paces, one not-insignificant absentee was noted.

The player in question? Dani Ceballos.

Midfielder Ceballos, for his part, returned to matchday duties on Sunday, after sitting out Real’s final fixture prior to the international break, against Osasuna.

The former Arsenal man, however, continues to be bothered by what has been described by The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai as ‘a slight overload’ in his muscles.

The problem is not thought to be a serious one, but it remains to be seen whether Ceballos is deemed fit enough to face Manchester City next Tuesday.
