Real Madrid star set a new La Liga season record in win over Cádiz

A remarkable statistic surrounding the exploits of a key member of the midfield setup at La Liga giants Real Madrid during the club’s most recent outing has come to the fore online.

Real, of course, are fresh off an evening to remember on Saturday.

After making short work of struggling Cádiz at the Santiago Bernabéu, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops were later crowned Spanish champions for 2023/24.

This comes after Barcelona’s defeat at the hands of Girona ensured that it is no longer mathematically possible for Los Blancos to be caught in their place atop the table.

Central to Real’s title-clinching victory, meanwhile, was veteran midfielder Luka Modrić.

Having been afforded a more prominent role over the course of recent weeks, Modrić has made crystal clear that he still has plenty left in the tank, despite being set to turn 39 later this year.

Never was this more evident than against Cádiz, when the Croatian managed to secure for himself a new La Liga season benchmark.

As revealed by WhoScored:

‘Luka Modrić made 51 successful final third passes in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Cadiz.’

This is more than any other player has managed in a single La Liga fixture across the campaign to date.
