Real Madrid star ruled out for 5 months through injury

La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week been hit with yet another setback on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation of Ferland Mendy being primed for a long-term incoming spell on the sidelines.

Defender Mendy has for his part endured another injury-plagued campaign to date, en route to just six starts between La Liga and the Champions League.

The Frenchman’s latest starting berth came on Sunday, as Real Madrid made the trip to Barcelona to lock horns with Espanyol.

En route to a 2-0 Blancos victory, however, Mendy lasted just 15 minutes, before limping off with a fresh fitness complaint.

An ensuing round of medical tests carried out on Monday morning confirmed:

‘Ferland Mendy has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg.’

And according to ensuing reports, ahead of an impending operation, Mendy is likely to miss the next five months of action.
