Real Madrid star Carlos Espí was responsible for nothing short of a historic showing on the international front this week. This came courtesy of his exploits in the final third in the Spanish U21s drubbing of San Marino.
La Rojita were back in action on Thursday evening, making the trip to minnows San Marino for a qualifying fixture for the upcoming European Championships.
When all was said and done, David Gordo’s troops ran riot, to the tune of a staggering 13-0 triumph.
The aforementioned Carlos Espí featured from the off in the fixture, a well-earned reward for what has been an encouraging start to life on the books of Real Madrid.
And amid a host of stellar individual performances, the powerful frontman racked up the most impressive statistics of all.
Espí, all told, notched seven direct goal contributions, courtesy of five goals and a pair of assists, in the process sending a message to club boss José Mourinho that he is ready to contribute on a more consistent basis back in Madrid.
