Real Madrid star overtakes Barcelona icon Ronaldinho in UCL record books

A head-turning statistic surrounding the production of a leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Tuesday night come to the fore online.

The player in question? Rodrygo.

Wide-man Rodrygo was for his part afforded a starting berth this evening, as Real Madrid kicked the club’s Champions League campaign into gear in a meeting with Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart.

When all was said and done, Los Blancos, despite looking some way short of their best, emerged on the right side of a 3-1 result.

And the aforementioned Rodrygo played a decisive role in as much.

Slipped in down the right flank early in the 2nd-half, the Brazilian international did superbly to drive forward, before squaring for Kylian Mbappé to slot home into an empty net.

And, in the process, Rodrygo passed an iconic compatriot in the Champions League record books.

As per StatMuse, the 23-year-old has now racked up 12 assists in European club football’s elite competition, one more than fellow Brazilian and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho.
