A headline member of the midfield ranks at Real Madrid has on Tuesday been named Player of the Season in La Liga.
His identity should come as little surprise, with Jude Bellingham having been rewarded for what has been nothing short of a remarkable debut campaign in Spain.
The England international has proven a central component in the stellar term being enjoyed by Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, taking to the rigours of life at world football’s biggest club like a duck to water.
In the league alone, Bellingham racked up 19 goals and six assists, despite injury and suspension problems having restricted him to just 27 starts.
His goals often proved of the utmost importance, too, with the midfielder, still just 20, having remarkably notched injury-time winners in both of the season’s La Liga Clásico meetings with Barcelona.
The widespread consensus, as a result, was that the award for Player of the Season in Spain’s top-flight was set to come down to either Bellingham, or teammate Vinícius Jr.
And, as alluded to above, this evening, it is the former who has won out.
As confirmed across La Liga’s official social media platforms, Bellingham has beaten out the competition to secure for himself the title of Spanish football’s very best for the 2023/24 campaign:
