Real Madrid star Rodrygo has on Sunday spoken out on the recent speculation linking him with a move to England, with Manchester City.
The name of Brazilian international Rodrygo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the week to date.
As much comes after the 23-year-old, through a series of interviews, appeared to hint that he was taking into consideration a departure from the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking to DAZN, as cited by The Athletic, for one, Rodrygo had the following to say when drawn on his future:
“Anything can happen. I have a contract here, but the years I’ve been here have been a pleasure for me.”
Such comments gave rise to swift links with several leading clubs from across the continent, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City chief among them.
Speaking to the press in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph on Saturday night, it therefore came as little surprise when his Etihad links were put to Rodrygo himself.
Safe to say, however, that the Brazilian could not have been more definitive in shutting as much down:
“This week some media said about bids, clubs, interest… I don’t know anything about it and I’m not interested. Even if there are proposals, I have no idea about that… I’m staying. I’m happy here. How could I leave Real Madrid?”
