Real Madrid star is playing through a number of injury problems

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been forced to play through a series of fitness issues over recent months.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Antonio Rüdiger as the player in question.

Rüdiger, for his part, has of course played a starring role for Real Madrid once more across the season to date.

Amid a whole host of injury problems at the heart of boss Carlo Ancelotti’s backline, the German has been the only near-constant, to the tune of 39 appearances in all competitions.

In turn, it will no doubt mark a source of concern for those of a Blancos persuasion to learn that Rüdiger, too, is far from full fitness at present.

As per a report from Sport, in fact:

‘The Real Madrid centre-back is suffering from osteoarthritis in his left knee and he has problems with his left meniscus due to this osteoarthritis and with his hip.’

It is therefore suggested that, in the case of Rüdiger finally breaking down physically, the former Chelsea man could be sidelined for an extended period.
