Real Madrid star eliminated from Euro 2024

A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has today seen his Euro 2024 adventure come to an end.

The player in question? Andriy Lunin.

Goalkeeper Lunin, for his part, has endured a difficult couple of weeks with his country of Ukraine.

After being afforded a starting berth in the nation’s opening group stage fixture against Romania, a mistake-riddled display saw the 25-year-old dropped to the bench for each of Ukraine’s ensuing outings.

And to the credit of head coach Serhiy Rebrov and co, as much produced the desired effect, The Yellow and Blue having battled first gotten the better of Slovakia, before battling their way to a goalless stalemate with Belgium on Wednesday.

Owing to the tightly-contested nature of the Group E table, however, Ukraine nevertheless find themselves heading home.

But Lunin’s opening day woes cost his nation dear, with the Ukrainians in possession of the worst goal difference, at minus 2.

They have as a result finished dead bottom of the group, eliminated from Euros contention as a result.
