Real Madrid star confirms plans for return to international football

A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this weekend confirmed his plans for a return to the international stage.

The player in question? Thibaut Courtois.

Goalkeeper Courtois, for his part, has not taken to the pitch in the colours of Belgium since all the way back in the summer of 2023.

Whilst his initial absence came owing to injury, the former Chelsea man announced in August of last year that he had no intention of lining out for the Red Devils so long as Domenico Tedesco remained in charge.

Dismissed from his role last month, though, Tedesco has since been replaced by Rudi Garcia.

And Courtois, this weekend, has confirmed his intention to take his place back between the posts for his country as a result.

Speaking to ‘Koora Break’ with Rio Ferdinand (as cited by Fabrizio Romano), the former Chelsea man confirmed:

“I missed playing for Belgium… it’s been a year and a half, now I am ready (to return).”
