A long-time member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has confirmed that he looks set to stay put with the club through the summer and beyond.
The player in question? Lucas Vázquez.
Vázquez, for his part, was introduced off the bench last night, en route to Real Madrid clinching the club’s latest Champions League title.
Post-match, however, it didn’t take long for focus to shift back towards his future.
The 32-year-old’s current terms in Spain’s capital are due to come to an end later this month, with it having long remained somewhat unclear just what the plans of the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu for Vázquez entail.
If the latest comments on the part of the player himself are anything to go by, though, then as much is now evident – Real Madrid want Vázquez to stay.
Drawn on the subject of his contract situation post-match at Wembley on Saturday night, the versatile full-back explained:
“It looks like I’m going to stay at Real Madrid.”
