It’s been no secret that Real Madrid have struggled in recent weeks. Losses against Barcelona and AC Milan have left the club in a bad place.
Despite this poor form, manager Carlo Ancelotti has refused to shake things up too drastically, with a handful of players being left to watch on from the bench despite calls from fans to be included.
Arda Güler is one such player, but despite being overlooked by Ancelotti at the Bernabéu, he is still a key player for his national team Turkey, and has been called up to the squad for their Nations League matches against Wales and Montenegro.
Güler has played 250 minutes for Real Madrid across seven appearances but has played far more for Turkey in comparison, racking up 350 minutes in just four appearances in the Nations League.
The appearances for Turkey have seen the 19-year-old contribute more too, with two goal involvements compared to zero for Real Madrid.
Güler will be looking forward to getting some regular football during the international break, while Real Madrid fans will be watching keenly to see how he gets on, and thinking what might have been had he played more for their club.
