Real Madrid star breaks Lionel Messi’s all-time Champions League record

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has on Wednesday secured for himself a fresh piece of Champions League history. This comes owing to his appearance in Los Blancos’ latest outing on the continent.

Real Madrid are currently locked in action in the Champions League, having made the trip to Italy’s capital for a showdown with Serie A outfit AS Roma.

As things stand, the sides are deadlocked at a goal apiece, after Marten de Roon’s opener was cancelled out by none other than the aforementioned Mbappé.

In the process, the 27-year-old climbed into the top-5 scorers ever in European football’s elite club competition.

But as alluded to above, this is not the only piece of history-making which Mbappé has managed on Wednesday. In addition, as revealed by UEFA on social media, the Frenchman is the youngest player to hit the 100-appearance mark in the Champions League.

Mbappé, at 27 years, 298 days old, has broken the record of previous holder Lionel Messi (28 years, 84 days old).
