Real Madrid set sights on Pedro Lima

The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid have turned attentions back towards Brazil, amid their ongoing efforts to source young talent for the club’s youth setup.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Real, it is understood, have identified Pedro Lima as a potential summer signing.

Lima, for his part, is a 17-year-old defender, who is currently plying his trade in his home country of Brazil, with Sport Recife.

Despite his tender years, the starlet is already an established performer at senior level, chiefly lining out at right-back for Recife.

And his performances, as alluded to above, have not gone at all unnoticed across the pond, in Europe.

As per AS, Real Madrid are giving serious consideration to launching an operation to incorporate Lima into their ranks.

It is Premier League heavyweights Chelsea who have made the most concrete move for a player who is already drawing comparisons to Brazilian legend Cafú, but Los Blancos, too, are more than attentive to the situation.

On the lookout for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, Lima is considered a potential option, with an offer in the region of €6-7 million likely to prove sufficient to coax Recife into a sale.
