Real Madrid receive injury boost ahead of Atlético clash

La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Thursday been afforded some altogether positive news on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that a key member of the club’s backline has returned to group training.

The player in question? Dani Carvajal.

Stopper Carvajal, for his part, sat out on Tuesday, as Real Madrid put Deportivo Alavés to the sword in the Spanish capital.

As much came after the experienced right-back suffered a fitness issue late in Los Blancos’ weekend downing of Espanyol.

Lucas Vázquez, to his credit, filled in admirably against Alavés, but all of a Real persuasion were nevertheless no doubt eager to hear of Carvajal returning to fitness in time to play his part in this weekend’s Madrid Derby.

And, on Thursday, as much has been all but confirmed.

As per the reliable Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, ‘Carvajal has trained with the group and will be ready to play the derby’ on Sunday.

Eduardo Camavinga, meanwhile, was cleared to play a partial role in group activities on Thursday, with his status to face Atlético remaining up in the air.
