Real Madrid ready to replace Carlo Ancelotti next summer

The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid have already set their sights on head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement.

That’s according to German outlet BILD, as cited by Diario Sport, who point towards Xabi Alonso as the tactician in question.

The name of tactician Alonso of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Madrid this past summer, amid widespread speculation that the ex-midfielder was being lined up to take his place on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu.

In the end, Alonso opted to stay put, culminating in Real Madrid offering fresh terms to current headmaster Carlo Ancelotti.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the press on Thursday is anything to go by, then the Blancos brass have not given up hope of bringing the club’s one-time player back to base in Madrid.

In fact, as per the aforementioned Sport:

Real Madrid ‘will go for Xabi Alonso in the summer of 2025 and Simon Rolfes, Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director, has been looking for a possible replacement for the German team for some time’.

Not only that, but, amid their search for Alonso’s successor, the German champions have identified Real Madrid Castilla boss Raúl as one potential option.
