Official | Real Madrid re-sign left-back Fran García

Real Madrid have re-signed their former academy graduate Fran García from Rayo Vallecano on a four-year deal. Carlo Ancelotti confirmed towards the end of the season that Real had activated an option that they had to re-sign the left back.

“As a person and a player, I have grown a lot at Rayo. I am very grateful to them because they gave me the opportunity, although I never hid my desire to return,” said the left-back.

“I’m a very consistent player, who keeps going and going. I have something in mind and I’m going for it,” he added.

García impressively started all 38 league games for Rayo in a season that saw them finish in 11th place. At 23 years of age, and left back being a position that Madrid are short in, the attacking full-back could be instantly pushing for a place in the starting eleven. Ferland Mendy has struggled with form and injuries, and Eduardo Camavinga does not enjoy filling in at left-back, so the young Spaniard has a real opportunity next season.

García joined Rayo in September 2020, and it is the only other club that he’s played at other than his original club, Real. He has only made one appearance for Los Blancos and he will be hoping to significantly add to that in the next campaign.
