Real Madrid point finger of blame at one source for Vinícius’ Ballon d’Or snub

The powers that be at Real Madrid have long come to the conclusion that one leading organisation in world football is directly responsible for Vinícius Jr. missing out on the Ballon d’Or.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards UEFA as the entity in question.

Wide-man Vinícius is of course fresh off a difficult day on Monday, which saw the Brazilian – the long-time favourite to lift the prize – snubbed for the Ballon d’Or.

The award, instead, went the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

Real Madrid, as a collective, made the decision to boycott the ceremony in Paris as a result, a stance of solidarity with the club’s star winger.

And, as alluded to above, 24 hours on, a fresh insight into the fallout behind the scenes in the Spanish capital has been provided.

As per a report from Relevo:

‘Real Madrid are clear: UEFA is behind the Ballon d’Or that Vinicius did not win.’

Florentino Pérez and co. have concluded that UEFA – involved in the Ballon d’Or process for the first time since the 1950s – made use of the award to punish Los Blancos as a club.

As much comes amid a relationship between the entities considered as being broken beyond repair, owing chiefly to Real’s concerted push for a European Super League.

The takeaway from Monday’s Ballon d’Or gala is therefore that Vinícius was essentially ‘robbed’ of his prize, by European football’s governing body.
