Real Madrid planning to pair Kylian Mbappé with Erling Haaland

A fresh insight into the long-term plans of the powers that be at Real Madrid when it comes to reinforcing the club’s attacking ranks has come to the fore online.

And the news will no doubt come as a source of concern for top clubs across the European landscape.

This comes amid claims that Real have every intention of pairing the incoming Kylian Mbappé with another of the continent’s most feared young attackers.

The player in question? Erling Haaland.

As per a report from journalist Francisco José Delgado of Cadena Ser:

‘The Madrid team has a clear roadmap, which is to bring together Mbappé and Haaland.’

The brass at the Santiago Bernabéu are understood to have rejected the request of head coach Carlo Ancelotti to bring in Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

Instead, Los Blancos opted for the cut-price option of Joselu.

And as much, it is suggested, comes with a view to Haaland being signed over the coming seasons, to act as the long-term centre-forward option under Ancelotti’s watch.

How Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will feel about such plans, remains to be seen…
