Two members of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad have secured places in the official Champions League Team of the Week.
The pair in question? Federico Valverde, and Kylian Mbappé.
Both Valverde and Mbappé of course played leading roles, as Real Madrid booked their spot in the Last-16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
En route to a 3-1 downing of Premier League champions Manchester City, frontman Mbappé proved himself the star of the show, notching all three of Los Blancos’ goals courtesy of a spectacular display.
Teammate Valverde, meanwhile, was tasked with filling in at right-back once more, amid the ongoing personnel problems in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
And the Uruguayan did not look at all out of place, impressing on both sides of the ball.
Both players, in turn, have been rewarded with places in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week, joined by the likes of Dávid Hancko, Nuno Mendes and Noa Lang.
