Real Madrid legend to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr

A once-iconic member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set to take up a leading role with Saudi outfit Al-Nassr.

That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Fernando Hierro as being the individual in question.

The ex-Spanish international, after stints on both the pitch and the touchline, has spent recent years testing his talents in the boardroom.

Since 2022, Hierro has acted as sporting director for Mexican giants Guadalajara.

And a similar role is now on the cards for the 56-year-old in the Middle East.

As per The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai:

‘Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are set to appoint Fernando Hierro as their new sporting director.’

The move will of course see Hierro link up with another Real Madrid legend, in Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as fellow countryman Aymeric Laporte.

Al-Nassr currently sit 2nd in the Saudi Pro League table, a full 12 points adrift of runaway table-toppers Al-Hilal.
